The Caterpillar Who Flew
An exciting adventure about dreams becoming real
The Caterpillar Who Flew is a rhyming, gently funny, picture book about a little caterpillar called Crystal who dreams of doing the impossible. Along the way, young readers discover courage, self-belief, and the magic of friendship.
Perfect for bedtime snuggles and classroom read-alouds, this warm and hopeful story reassures little ones that change can be exciting and that being patient to grow up is important.

What it’s about
“Crystal Caterpillar dreamed, in Whispering Wood,
Of growing-up and flying as high as she could.”
Each page follows a small caterpillar with a very big wish: to fly above the treetops. From the first wriggle to the final flutter, The Caterpillar Who Flew wraps important themes in cosy, colourful scenes and reassuring humour that little listeners-and grown-ups-will want to revisit again and again.

About the creators

Author
Allison Thomas spent many years shaping words into stories for magazines, podcast, and online media. She was Managing Editor of the music magazine Deep Red and edited several professional titles for Cambridge Marketing Press. Her CATtales interview series became a sold-out book with Bluebird Publishing. Now, she is turning her love of storytelling toward creating whimsical characters and encouraging young readers to believe in themselves.

Illustrator
Jacqueline McQuade is an illustrator with a lifelong love of bears, cats, books, and bringing characters to life. In her twenties, she illustrated a series of teddy bear stories, which sparked a creative journey that has stayed with her ever since. Later, she worked as a freelance illustrator for Harrods, painting their beloved annual teddy bears for many years. Her work is inspired by warmth, nostalgia and the quiet charm of well-loved characters.
Woodland Trust Wildlife Appeal
The UK’s woodland wildlife is in decline, with 53% of species at risk. Kitten Tales Press wants to protect precious habitats and ensure a future for species like the hazel dormouse, red squirrel and osprey so we are donating 50p from every book sold towards this vital cause.
